What Are Cosmetic Fillers?

Fillers are important in the fight against aging and damaged skin. Fillers are injected into the skin and help restore the plumpness and remove wrinkles, by ‘filling up’ the space beneath them. Fillers are most commonly used to enhance the appearance of lips, raise sagging cheeks and reduce the depth of smile lines (nasal labial folds). Acne, chicken pox and other depressed scars can also be improved.

Juvederm® and Teosyal® contain hyaluronic acid and are the most popular fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in our joints, so no skin testing is required for treatment! It also helps create healthy looking skin at the cellular level. The material is very soft, highly biocompatible and excellent for defining lips and treating smile lines. Results last 6-9 months.
